Free Easter activities for children at local leisure centre

A range of free activities are available at the Forum Centre this Easter for children and young people eligible for free school meals in Wythenshawe, as part of the national Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme.

Forum Leisure – managed by Everyone Active in partnership with Wythenshawe Forum Trust and MCRactive – will host an array of free activities designed to appeal to different age groups and interests. Activities over the Easter half term include swimming, arts & crafts and multisport.

Swimming sessions will help children build confidence in the water and improve their swimming skills, while multisport sessions will offer a variety of team-based games and activities, promoting social interaction and healthy competition amongst participants.

Arts and crafts activities are designed to encourage creativity and support mental wellbeing.

Each session includes a free, nutritionally balanced lunch.

Everyone Active contract manager Phil Bowers said: “We’re delighted to be part of the national HAF programme and provide children with the opportunity to enjoy an active and engaging Easter break, regardless of their financial circumstances.

“With activities designed to promote both physical wellbeing and social interaction, we hope to see children from the Wythenshawe area join us to have fun, stay active and develop new skills.”

Sessions take place from 9.30am until 2pm, from Tuesday 2April until Friday 5 April.

School children from reception to Year 11 in receipt of benefits-related free school meals are eligible for HAF sessions. Parents and guardians of eligible children can register here.
