Christmas arrives at Wythenshawe Forum as popular panto launches

Families flocked to Wythenshawe Forum this weekend to enjoy the first performances of its annual Christmas pantomime.

‘Robin Hood Meets Stinky Bear’ was written and performed by On Ya Bike Theatre Company – a community-led group dedicated to bringing quality drama and music to Wythenshawe, often performing in schools and residential homes.

The first of this year’s performances took place on Saturday 30 November and Sunday 1 December and both received a wealth of praise from audiences.

The public still have a chance to see the local pantomime, with upcoming performances taking place on Saturday 7 December and Sunday 8 December, both at 2pm. Tickets are on sale here.

Local schools will also be experiencing the festive show in a series of special performances sponsored by Manchester Airport.

For more than 20 years, the community has enjoyed annual Christmas pantomimes at Forum Hall, making full use of its performance provision including stage, theatrical lighting and audio. Events at the Forum are managed by award-winning operator Everyone Active in partnership with Wythenshawe Forum Trust.

Phil Bowers, contract manager at Everyone Active, said: “The Forum’s annual pantomime has returned, and we are delighted to bring some festive cheer to families across Wythenshawe.

“A massive thank you to On Ya Bike Theatre Company for their brilliant work on pulling the show together. Testament to their talent is the success of their fantastic first performances that took place this weekend.

“We encourage the local community to join us for one of the upcoming performances and get in the Christmas spirit with Robin Hood and Stinky Bear!”
