AGE UK MANCHESTER
CROSSACRES DAY CENTRE
Where is the Day Centre?
Crossacres Day centre currently provides care, companionship, and fun for forty older people per day!
We are situated on the corner of Peel Hall Road and Crossacres Road in Wythenshawe.
The day centre is open from Monday to Friday, and we have our own wheelchair accessible transport to bring people to the centre. Our team of staff and volunteers will ensure that any newcomer to the centre is made very welcome. The day centre is a friendly place and gives people the opportunity to socialise and to try new activities.
What happens at the centre?
We start to bring people into the centre from about 9.00 am (we can vary the time of your pick-up if you have to wait for a carer to visit etc) Your pick-up time will be arranged with you before your first visit so you will know when to expect us!
When you arrive at the centre you will receive a warm welcome and some tea and toast!
In the morning we usually chat, read the papers and occasionally do a quiz
At 12 midday a hot two-course lunch is served. (Sandwiches or soup can be had instead if preferred)
In the afternoons we have a wide range of activities going on. It is up to the individual whether they wish to take part in the activities or just to sit and chat with friends! The sorts of activities we have are:
Creative writing, flower arranging, arts & crafts, reminiscence groups, bingo, quizzes, seated exercise, Tai Chi, pamper days & singing – the list is endless!
Mid afternoon we have tea and biscuits and then we start to take you back home at around 3pm
What else goes on there?
We have a hairdresser at the centre two days per week who charges very reasonable rates.
We have regular visits from entertainers and run day trips when possible
The day centre” belongs” to the people who attend so we are always happy to receive suggestions about activities, trips etc. that you feel everyone may enjoy!
How much does all of this cost?
A day at the Day Centre costs just £49.50 per day, which includes tea and toast, lunch, transport, activities, personal care (if required) and entertainment!!
You may also be able to attend with funding via a Social Services assessment.
How do I get a place at the day centre?
You can contact the Day Centre Manager, Zoe Jones for further information or to arrange an assessment visit to discuss your requirements. The telephone number is 0161 437 0717.
Alternatively, you can contact Social Services on 0161 234 5001.
