Homelessness charity Emmaus South Manchester is using Trustees’ Week (4 – 8 November 2024) to thank their trustees and appeal for new trustees to join the charity.
Emmaus South Manchester currently has 10 people who give their time and expertise as trustees. The charity is keen to add two more people to their board of trustees and is appealing for people with finance and human resources (HR) experience.
The Wythenshawe-based charity has developed a social enterprise and is aiming to open a new Emmaus community to support people who experience homelessness and poverty. Emmaus communities provide a home, tailored support, training and work opportunities to help people build their confidence, boost their skills and achieve their potential.
Frances Hirst, Chair Emmaus South Manchester, said: “This is a very exciting time for our charity as we become more established and move closer to our goal of opening a new Emmaus community in Manchester. We are keen to welcome on board two new trustees to help our charity with good governance and to achieve the next stages of growth.
“I first became a charity trustee more than 20 years ago and it remains a rewarding part of my life. Becoming a trustee and working alongside others provides you with personal and professional development, as well as the satisfaction of supporting a cause you care about. I’d like to give my thanks to fellow Emmaus South Manchester trustees and encourage anyone who is interested in becoming a trustee to find out more about the roles on our website.”
Trustees’ Week is a national campaign to celebrate the achievements of nearly one million trustees across the UK. Trustees are the individuals who make strategic decisions on behalf of the charity and have general control and management of the administration of a charity.
Trustees at Emmaus South Manchester give their time voluntarily and work together collectively to ensure the charity has a clear strategy, and that its work and goals are in line with its vision. Emmaus South Manchester is currently working to raise the funds, support and partnerships needed to develop and open a new residential community.
