Brooklands Community Defibrillator Launch

A new defibrillator was installed to the side of the church building for local community use. This has been a long term desire of the church in partnership with the community to give access to this.

The whole project was a combined effort in the end:

Local resident Stephen Savage (pictured) raised the amount for the defib itself, approx £1500, by running the Manchester 10k and completing the three peaks challenge.

The church raised the amounts for the storage unit, £500, through church member Holly Dale’s (pictured) Christmas Community Market in December and the church trustees gifted the amount for installation, approx. £200.

The defib is designed for public use and is accessed through contacting emergency services (999) and giving the location. The emergency services will then give the release code and they will stay on the line to talk the user through the process of using the defibrillator. Although the church gates are closed out of ours they are never locked so that the defibrillator can be accessed 24-7.
