Norbrook Youth Club invested part of the funding received from Burberry and Marcus Rashford a year ago, for the inauguration of a new outdoor adventure – specifically a trim trail or obstacle course that will encourage young people to spend time outdoor developing physical and mental wellbeing in a creative, fun way.
A year ago Norbrook Youth Club received a charitable donation from the British luxury brand Burberry as part of its initiative to support youth in partnership with English international footballer and former Norbrook Youth Club member Marcus Rashford. Part of the funding was planned to go towards upgrading the club exterior grounds through play equipment that would allow for more outdoor activities, to encourage and sustain healthy living.
Trim trails are considered a great choice of outdoor equipment as there are more than a few benefits that they present with. They are diverse, challenging in an age appropriate way and invite children’s imagination in designing their own scenario for play, either on their own or in teams, thus improving their social and problem solving abilities.
Gavin Evans, Norbrook Youth Club Chairman said: “Our aim in using this donation was twofold – to give our young people another strong reason to be excited about coming to Norbrook and spending quality time in a healthy environment, as well as to complement Burberry’s and Marcus’ aspirations to support youth. I am confident we managed to achieve both and will continue to make every effort in that direction.”
Norbrook Youth Club is a long running, multi-purpose youth facility and community centre in Northern Moor, Wythenshawe. The club has been established in the community for over 60 years, since 1958 and offers free, diverse, weekly activity sessions for youth from the age of 6 to 18, to enjoy in a safe and friendly environment.
