Manchester residents will have no changes to their bin days this Christmas, so households should put their bins out on their usual days.

Real Christmas tree can be recycled in January. Any lights or decorations and the wooden base or stand must be removed. Here’s what to do:

Artificial trees cannot be recycled.

Residents can sign up to emailed updates, to get reminders about bin days: www.manchester.gov.uk/bincollections

Many items can be recycled during the festive period:

  • Food and bones go in the GREEN BIN
  • Wrapping paper (that scrunches, is not shiny and does not contain glitter) and cardboard packaging go in the BLUE BIN
  • Drinks cans and glass bottles go in the BROWN bin.
