In line with the Government’s roadmap out of lockdown, Wythenshawe Town Centre and its retailers fully reopened again on Monday 12th April.
Wythenshawe Town Centre has remained open during the crisis to provide access to essential retailers such as pharmacies and food stores and has already implemented safety measures which include a heightened cleaning regime, free to use hand sanitiser and social distancing procedures across the Centre.
But this week, the stores were welcomed back with open arms as customers voted with their feet to show their support for their local high street. The Centre and it’s customers were delighted to see the return of the full retail offering once again, which has provided the real-life shopping experience that has been hugely missed by many within the community.
It really was a case of absence makes the heart grow fonder as people put on their warmest outfits and disregarded early showers to visit the town, do some shopping, eat some lunch and get their hair cut.
The town was even busier than usual as its market also returned, for the first time in months.
The Centre is continuing to encourage visitors to be mindful of the wellbeing of others whilst visiting and that it is still compulsory to wear a mask in enclosed public spaces, including shops, unless exempt. Always catch your cough or sneeze in a tissue, dispose of your tissue as soon as possible and clean your hands as soon as you can. The team are also urging customers who may be displaying symptoms of the virus to refrain from visiting the Centre.
In the coming months, The Wythenshawe Town Centre team are also looking forward to the return of an exciting array of community campaigns and family activities when safe to do so.
Daniel Davis, Wythenshawe Town Centre Manager, commented: “We were delighted to be welcome our visitors and non-essential retailers back to the Centre this week! Our retailer teams have been working hard to freshen up their stock Spring-style whilst also ensuring the stores are safe for both customers and staff. We are all very pleased to welcome visitors back and are looking forward to restarting our community events and campaigns when safe to do so…watch this space!”
He added, “Our Centre and retailer teams have been working extremely hard under huge pressure this past year, and we want to extend a huge thank you to the key workers both within the centre and across Wythenshawe who have done an excellent job in looking after our community. We have seen the community come together like never before, and although our Centre teams continue to work hard to keep everyone safe, it is crucial that we continue to work together and follow the current guidelines so that we can all look forward to getting back to some normality.”
