Homelessness Charity Shares PPE Donation From UAP

Local charity Emmaus South Manchester has received a large donation of personal protective equipment (PPE) from UAP Limited which has been shared out amongst other homelessness charities.

Whitefield-based UAP Limited is a leading UK supplier of door hardware and accessories. The company began producing and manufacturing their own PPE during the pandemic last year when supplies in the UK were critically low. Their latest donation of hand sanitiser, face masks and visors to Emmaus South Manchester follows donations to other local charities and schools throughout the pandemic.

David Jennings, CEO at UAP Limited, said: “We take our social responsibility as a company very seriously at UAP Ltd and have been involved in charity projects and fundraising all over the world. As we recover from the pandemic, we want to help the communities in which our staff live. We believe that everyone who needs PPE for their safety should have access to it, whether they can afford it or not, and we are proud to be able to step in to help.”

“We’re delighted to be able to support Emmaus charities across the North West who are working hard to end homelessness in their areas. We hope our donation helps to keep the beneficiaries, volunteers and staff safe at each community to help them continue their great work.”

Emmaus communities support formerly homeless people by giving them a home, meaningful work in a social enterprise and an opportunity to regain lost self-esteem to help rebuild their lives. The concept of solidarity, helping other people and groups in need, is a central ethos of Emmaus and a motivation for Emmaus South Manchester sharing the donation with neighbouring Emmaus communities.

Mark Booth, Local Champion for Emmaus South Manchester, said: “I am extremely grateful to the team at UAP Limited for their generous donation of PPE. Not only will the items be of benefit to our charity, they will also play an important role at five other Emmaus charities across the North West.”

There are currently 29 Emmaus communities in the UK, supporting more than 850 people. Emmaus South Manchester is one of five Emmaus groups working to set up new Emmaus communities in different areas of the country.
